Nyaarla Projects Pty Ltd commenced operation in September 2003. Prior to the creation of Nyaarla Projects Madonna Douglas (Now known as Madonna Beattie) operated Madonna Douglas Consulting Services from August 2002 and Alan Beattie operated Integrated Business Management Solutions from November 2000.

Nyaarla Projects brings together an array of experience, knowledge and skills to form a unique combination providing excellence in a range service areas. Nyaarla Projects provides a variety of services for both the public and private sector.
Madonna Beattie (Director/Owner)
Madonna Beattie (Formerly known as Madonna Douglas) is a Kabi kabi woman originally from Bundaberg in Queensland. Now living in Perth, Madonna has spent most of the past 15 years in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia.
Madonna originally came to prominence in the mid 1980’s when she became one of, if not Australia’s first Aboriginal female pilot. She has had an interesting and varied career including café owner/operator, pilot, Commonwealth public servant, student, community development officer, airport maintenance officer/manager, school teacher and consultant.
Madonna now has her own consulting business Nyaarla Projects which was established in mid 2003. Nyaarla Projects specialises in Indigenous public participation/ consultation, capacity building, cross-cultural communication and employment and training. Over the past four years Nyaarla Projects has conducted public participation of various forms in over 50 Aboriginal communities/organisations in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory and conducted consultations with a range of stakeholders as part of similar review processes.
Nyaarla Projects has developed and as part of this Madonna co-delivers a training course “Indigenous Public Participation: Values and Techniques”. The course provides participants with a framework to develop their indigenous public participation strategy and delivery techniques. Madonna has completed the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Certificate for Public Participation.
In 2006 Madonna was a finalist in the Telstra Women’s Business Awards in the Business Owner category.
Alan Beattie
Alan Beattie is a Community Consultation specialist, he has over ten years experience in community consultation/liaison, community development, Aboriginal heritage and native title and employment and training. Alan has extensive experience in planning, conducting, reviewing and reporting on community and stakeholder meetings, particularly with Aboriginal communities and organisations.
Prior to commencing work as a consultant in late 2000, Alan worked in the WA Public Sector over 10 years and the Commonwealth Public Sector for nearly 5 years, including the role of Deputy and then Regional Manager for the ATSIC Broome region.
Over the past 6 years Alan has conducted consultation with over a 100 Indigenous communities and organisations throughout Australia and has been a key team member of a number reviews into Indigenous programmes.
In mid 2004 Alan helped establish Nyaarla Projects and has continued working with Nyaarla since.
In 2004 Alan completed the International Association for Public Participation’s (IAP2) internationally recognised Certificate in Public Participation and in 2006 became one of a handful of accredited deliverers of this training course in Australia and the only accredited deliver of the Certificate in Western Australia.
Nyaarla Projects has developed and as part of this Alan co-delivers a training course “Indigenous Public Participation: Values and Techniques”. The course provides participants with a framework to develop their indigenous public participation strategy and delivery techniques.
Alan’s facilitation, consultation and people management skills ensure that effective consultation and liaison occurs with all stakeholders.
