Youth Services and Education

Nyaarla Projects provides a range of youth services and education related activities, including:

• Being the training and employment service provider for the Indigenous Youth Mobility Programme (IYMP) in Perth. IYMP provides opportunities for Indigenous youth to undertake study/training in Perth. IYMP includes the provision of:
  • Career Planning and Orientation (testing and assessment)
  • Mentoring and Support Services
  • Accommodation (if required – not managed by Nyaarla)
  • Assistance with obtaining employment once the training/education is completed

Below are some of our recent projects.

The Indigenous Youth Mobility Programme (IYMP) (Client – Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations: Timeframe Dec 2005 – June 2009): is part of the Australian Government’s Indigenous Australians Opportunity and Responsibility commitment.  Nyaarla Projects is managing IYMP’s Western Australian operations to provide young Indigenous people from remote Western Australia (“IYMP Participants”) with the opportunity to take up training and employment opportunities.

With the support of their families and communities these young people will elect to relocate to Perth for this purpose.  Pre vocational training, New Apprenticeships and some tertiary pathways including nursing, teaching, accounting and business management are the focus of IYMP in recognition of a demand for these qualifications in remote communities. Services delivered under the IYMP include:

1. Training and employment services to be delivered in Perth
2. Mentor and support services
3. Accommodation services to be delivered through Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL);
